Oh how we have tried and failed to free ourselves from the modern world of use and abuse. How many barricades have been sanctified by the passionate blood of workers who preferred to die in the streets rather than let their life be taken by the endless exploitation. And how many times have we thought that we were finally being led out of Egypt only to validate Camus' cynical but thus far true statement- "Every revolutionary ends up as an oppressor or a heretic". Is it destined to be like this forever? People willingly donning their chains and licking the whip for all their days in the desperate hope that it will get better, someday? Makes me wonder if maybe humanity has been tripping on power too long to give up the habit cold turkey and form a society that works for everyone. I remain somewhat optimistic that sooner or later enough people are going to get desperate enough to try some truly radical ideas. Have no clue what that will consist of, but in the unfolding of time, their are only those who tried and those who didn't; and May Day is all about honoring the countless dead who tried.
