The Gist

Ok, it basically breaks down like this:
Back in the grand old days of old we all wandered around like the rest of God's creatures and everything was hunky dorry. Then slowly we started to adapt a little too well and started to alter our surroundings to benefit us. This is generally called agriculture, and what followed is generally called civilization; although some debate about whether it really is anything to brag about exists (see Mahatma Gandhi). When we started to manifest our own surroundings things got exponentially more complex, so much so that the average person could no longer fully comprehend their surroundings. This gave rise to a caste of people generally called 'leaders' that would dedicate their life to figuring out what the hell is going on and how to proceed. I'm not going to get caught up in praising or denouncing specific leaders, all I'm saying is that they are essentially an eventuality in any situation where people don't have the abililty, time or intelligence to explain the nature of their existence for themselves. Will we all ever get our shit together and finally start working together without the barrier of these so called 'leaders'? Like many things, only time will tell.
